Aluminum Association works with industry to encourage PFC reductions in China

More Chinese smelters and the aluminum industry in India are showing interest in PFC reductions, says Aluminum Association’s sustainability specialist Marshall Wang. Wang attended the Vancouver Task Force meetings on aluminium, cement, building and appliances, renewable energy and distributed generation in Vancouver, Canada in March. It was held as part of the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate which aims to address issues of increased energy needs, air pollution, energy security, and climate change.

Full of Eastern promise - 12 August 2010

The Inductotherm Furnace Group has received an order for six 30 ton steel capacity coreless induction furnaces, each with an 18,500 kW VIP® power supply from a customer in the Middle East. When all the furnaces are on full power together, the installation will melt at the rate of 210 ton/hr – making it by far the largest induction furnace melting plant ever built with a total connected load of 111 MW.

AFS opposes EPA Greenhouse Regulation - 12 August 2010

The American Foundry Society (AFS) sent a letter on May 19 in support of a congressional resolution which opposes regulation of greenhouse gases by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).Fifty-two of the society’s corporate members also signed the letter.
