Online ‘green’ Machine - 22 December 2011

Subcon supports UK exhibitors - 22 December 2011
Next year’s Subcon Exhibition (12-14 June) at the NEC, Birmingham, will extend its support for UK manufacturers by sponsoring the participation of key industry sectors – initially metalforming and cast metals.

Hunter automated mourns the loss of its founder - 22 December 2011
William Allen ‘Al’ Hunter, originator of the matchplate moulding machine and mould handling system for sand casting, has died aged 89. He pioneered many of the techniques and machine concepts used worldwide in the foundry industry today.
A true giant in the world foundry market, Hunter changed the way sand casting was done, by his invention of the matchplate moulding and mould handling system in 1964, when he built his first machine, helped by his son and current president of the company, Bill, for sale to Moline Corporation of Illinois, a malleable iron foundry. He will be missed by all who knew him and appreciated his zest for life and especially his love of invention.

A trio of senior appointments - 22 December 2011
Foseco has announced the appointment of David Hughes as president foundry with effect from 1 October 2011.
Foseco is the foundry division of Vesuvius and is the global leader in products and solutions for improving foundry performance. Based in Shanghai (China), Hughes succeeds Jeff Weeks who has retired following a 20 year career with the company.
